Tana GiraldoMy name is Tana Giraldo and I am now 19 years old. My first involvement with YFC was in the summer before going into high school. Living in Port Washington, I knew a number of kids in my grade that attended several Campus Life events. I was always curious about what it was they went to do. Finally my sister told me about a trip to New Jersey in which I would have a good time. Turns out my sister was quite right. I had the most amazing week.
My experience with YFC has been nothing short of amazing. I was shy and going into high school I was very nervous about the type of friends I would make. The more I went to Campus Life and joined other trips; I felt more like I was home. I was surrounded by people that I knew cared about me. While I knew many of my friends that would spend their Fridays sitting around with people who were careless and irresponsible, I had a place to go, and a place where I knew I belonged. On each trip I made I was connected to God. My leader Craig Muller became a role model for me. He would talk about his relationship with God and how each one of us could have one too. Before YFC I had lost my connection with God, and almost stopped believing in him. Being with such amazing leaders, and by some of the nicest people I have ever met made me realize that God is trying to send a message to everyone. And I think that message is love. Campus Life is a place where people love you and are always there to support you no matter the situation. That is something I will certainly not forget. As I go on my way to college now, I am grateful that I had the opportunity to join YFC when I was confused and young because it helped send me in the right path. Craig and Jenn Muller, Heather Coppola, and all the other leaders I met on the trips inspire me to become a caring and giving person. And for that, I cannot thank them enough. |
