Why Student Led Ministry?

Youth culture is constantly changing. It's a different world with different music and different issues than it was 20 years ago. Youth ministry methods need to change to connect with young people and meet the expanding needs.

Today's kids don't respond well to yesterday's methods. Today young people value life experiences more than book knowledge. A young person actively living out faith in Christ has a greater potential for real life transformation than sitting and listening to a  presentation of information. Convincing young people today that Jesus Christ is real is more effective through meaningful relationships than presenting the apologetics of the Christian faith.

Christian teenagers are also changing. In the past they wanted to be entertained; now they want to make a difference in the world. They want to matter, to be heroes, to be part of something bigger than themselves, to serve, to help, to love and to be significant.

How do we capture their hearts and develop student leaders for the Kingdom of God? Youth For Christ believes these students are capable of being effective ministers to their friends who do not yet follow Jesus. They should outnumber our adult staff. They share many things in common with their peers. They rub shoulders with them daily in the halls at school. They play sports with them. They sit next to them in class, day after day, year after year. It's a unique relational ministry opportunity!

Student Led Ministry desires to see students living and sharing the two greatest commandments: to love Jesus and to love others. Their life with Christ is is not about adding another “to-do” to their list. It’s teaching them to actively abide in Christ and live a lifestyle depending on Jesus Christ that draws the attention of their peers. This is the vision behind 3Story Evangelism®.

Student Led Ministry works in urban, rural, or suburban areas, when students to put their faith into action.

Junior high and high school are key years to disciple students and train them to disciple others. Because relationships are so big with young people, students have an abundance of opportunities to build friendships and love people to Jesus, day in and day out, whether in the classroom, on the field, or at a coffee shop.

Have you ever prayed that God would be allowed back in our schools? God has answered that prayer. The doors are open--not for adults--but for students to bring Christ living in them on to school property. What a difference a Christian student can make in a school.

YFC believes God wants ministry happening on every campus in America. It can happen. God is providing a way. The doors of our schools are open to Christ when students with a living faith walk into school each day. We dare not miss this opportunity to impact this new young generation.

Kids can do this! They need your daily prayer support and help.

YFC alone can't rally, train and support these student leaders. Find out how you can help. Write YFC at info@liyfc.org
