Prayer Letter
July 2007
Dear Family, Friends and Prayer Warriors,
Thank you for taking the time to read my letters and pray each month. One of our students and her family really need your prayers now. Here is the situation.
Liz, the mother of one our teen moms, Maggie, left me a message on my cell phone looking for her daughter’s mentor Sue’s, phone number. Liz was very upset because of some things she thought her daughter Maggie was doing. I called Sue to tell her to call Liz to listen to her concerns about her daughter Maggie. There was a bit of phone tag going on.
Maggie has a boyfriend, Joe who doesn’t want anything to do with Maggie’s son Jonny. Her parents don’t like Joe because he isn’t a good influence on Maggie and he doesn’t care about Jonny. Maggie needs a lot of attention (good or bad) and Joe seems to give it to her. He doesn’t have a job and uses Maggie to pay for everything. Maggie lost her good paying job because she took days off to hang out with Joe
When Sue spoke to Maggie, Maggie denied almost all the claims her mother Liz made about her. Maggie wasn’t upset when Sue told her what her mom said. She just very matter-of-factly said her mom exaggerates. Now Maggie’s parents have stood by her throughout her pregnancy and she and her son Jonny still live in her parents’ home. . Both Maggie’s brother Tom and sister, Sally voiced similar concerns about their sister and asked if we could help facilitate a family meeting. Tom and Sally help in the care of Maggie’s son Jonny.
Life is complicated, especially when God is not in charge of our lives. My heart goes out to this family. Please pray for Sue and me to have the wisdom we need to minister to this family.
Your prayers and donations are really what keep this ministry going. We are not funded by National YFC, or large corporations; but by personal support from people like you. Thank you again for your prayerful and financial support.
Sincerely in Jesus’ Name,
Donna Carlino Teen Parent Director
P.S. Please continue to pray for my husband Joe’s job situation. He was let go from the temporary job in North Carolina. Thanks.
