Prayer Letter
July 2007
Dear Friends, family and YFC supporters,
Well June was another awesome month for the powerful hand of the Living God. I am sure many of you have experienced what I am talking about. Often times we try to put God in a nice little neat box. We get to a point where we think we have God’s pattern down to a tee, and then WHAM! He moves in a way that we never expected. When will I ever learn…lol.
When I took the position at YFC a few months ago I was not sure what exactly to expect. The one thing I knew for sure was that I wanted to be faithful and effective in the position that God had put me in. I began with “my” vision and expectations, but God quickly gave me His heart and passion for the East End of Long Island.
I have met with many East End youth pastors and youth leaders over the last few months and I can tell that something huge is on the horizon. I am not talking about events, concerts or guest speakers (all of which are useful ministry tools). I am talking about a unified Christian front, a wall of Christ like warriors, and an assembly of the Saints. God is placing his burden for lost teens heavily upon the leadership of East End churches and denominational lines are being crossed and the enemy is getting scarred.
This is not only happening amongst the leaders, but it is showing itself evident in the lives of our kids. Yesterday members of the William Floyd High School Bible club met and hung out with student from the Riverhead Bible Club for the first time. It was an awesome time; the kids had pizza, went to the park and more importantly had fellowship. The shared spiritual war stories and encouraged one another greatly.
This is what it is all about. Our kids need to know that they DO NOT STAND ALONE. God’s vision for the East End of Long Island has given me goose bumps. What a dynamic time to serve the Living God. Your partnership makes this possible. Your prayers and financial support open the doors for me to connect with these kids and continue God’s plan and moving in their lives. Thank you for everything and together we shall kick in the gates of hell and reach the lost.
In His Grip Forever,
John Bernor East End Director
