Prayer Letter
July 2007
Dear friends and family,
Have you ever lost something that was really important to you? It is just the worst feeling. You begin searching in the normal places. Than you start feeling this sense of urgency and you begin looking in places you have never been before. Under the couch in the cushions behind the refrigerator in the refrigerator, anywhere and everywhere it is possible to look. Then you recruit your family and friends to start looking also. Have you seen it? It’s this big and looks like…
Then you see it. There it is. The feeling of relief and joy can not be matched. What you were looking for is found. What was lost is recovered!
I have been pondering this concept of searching for that which is lost. In Luke 15 Jesus tells his critics a story of a shepherd looking for his lost sheep. Two ideas stood out to me.
It really touched me to see that the shepherd would go down unusual, uncomfortable, even dangerous paths to search for what was lost. He was going to go anywhere and do anything to find what he had lost.
The other crazy concept seen in the story is the sheep did nothing to have to earn his return. The shepherd did it all.
Jesus tells this story because He is telling those listening that He will go anywhere and do anything to bring even one back into right relationship with God His father. The lost do not have to do anything except allow Him to pick them up and take them home where they belong.
As I work with young people I want to become more like the shepherd and more like Jesus. There are young people all over that are hanging out in parks, schools, streets, at the movies and coffee shops. I want to go find them, tell them the truth, and allow Jesus to bring them home.
That is what Campus Life is all about. This summer we have three main trips where we will be telling young people that Jesus wants to take them in so they can be a part of His family. Will you please pray that they do not resist. Pray for understanding and openness. Pray that lives will be changed this summer. Please, also, pray for me that I become more like the shepherd.
Following Him,
Craig Muller Campus Life Director
P.S. The summer trips cost anywhere from $300 to $500. If you want to help make it possible for students to attend summer trips please send check to Youth for Christ with CL trip in the memo. Thanks for your support and prayers.
