Craig grew up in Holbrook, Long Island and attended Smithtown Christian School from first grade to graduation. He then volunteered at Smithtown as a youth leader for 4 years while working and taking classes at Suffolk Community College.

In 1998, He moved on to Nyack College where he played NAIA Division II baseball and basketball, helped organize and staff Christian sport camps and volunteered at Meadowbrook youth group in North Haledon N.J. In May 2001, Craig graduated from Nyack College with a Youth Ministry and Psychology major.
