Long Island Youth For Christ is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, inter-denominational youth organization registered with the Federal and New York State government. It is a chartered affiliate with the Youth For Christ USA national organization. Long Island Youth For Christ was founded by Dave and Darlene Swanson and incorporated in 1959. It is governed locally by a board of directors.

 What is the purpose of Long Island Youth For Christ?
Long Island Youth For Christ is a youth organization focused on high school and middle school age young people. Meetings, rallies, concerts and activities are held in private homes, community buildings and churches under the supervision of adult staff leaders. Special attention is given to safety and supervision.  LI YFC welcomes inquiries from parents and community leaders. Involvement by students is voluntary and without obligation. LI YFC does not discriminate against any student on the basis of race, religion, family background or gender. There are no dues or membership requirements.

Is Long Island Youth For Christ a church?
No. Long Island Youth For Christ encourages young people to develop a personal faith and be involved in a local church. YFC staff and workers are active members of local Christian churches. Many churches from a variety of denominations support YFC financially and participate in mutual programs and activities. However, Long Island Youth For Christ does not have any formal affiliation with any particular church.

How is Long Island Youth For Christ funded?
Long Island Youth For Christ is locally funded by voluntary tax-deductible gifts and contributions from individuals, churches, businesses and foundations. The expansion and development of the LI Youth For Christ program is directly related to local community support. The financial records of Long Island Youth For Christ are audited annually and IRS Form 990 is filed every year. Full financial information is available upon request.
