This Project Serve team will be working with Oasis Ministry under the direction of missionaries Ron and Linda Braaten. Ron and Linda are native to Long Island and always enjoying when they get teams from “back home”. Oasis Ministry is active over the entire country in ministry to youth through construction, VBS programs, Sunday School Ministries and church ministry, teaching, and a Mobile Library. Oasis Ministry is located in the rural Cayo district.
Service Opportunities Each morning our team will be serving as teachers and helpers for a summer school program that includes children from toddlers to teens. We will reinforce what they should have learned during the regular school year as well as teach them Bible stories and songs.
Our team will also help daily with whatever construction projects are in process while we are there. This can include home repairs, painting, general clean up and construction.
Be ready to work hard, get dirty and build Belizian style!
Worship Opportunities In addition to the teaching and construction work, the team will be actively involved in direct ministry with the Oasis programs.
We will participate with the local churches in their weekly worship and outreach services. You will have many opportunities to share your story of how God has worked in your life in one-on-one relational ministry activities as well as sharing with entire congregations. We will also be ministering to children, teens and adults through drama and music.
Also be prepared to hear testimonies of how God's faithfulness has manifested itself in the lives of our Belizian brothers and sisters.
Rest Opportunities The trip includes a day of rest, relaxation and celebration on one of Belize’s beautiful Caye islands. There will also be other times to experience the culture by visiting Mayan ruins or villages, eating out at traditional Belizian restaurants and exploring the rainforest.
