Campus Life Bike Trip Reunion
Saturday, August 19, 2006 - This day was a blast! It was so good to see the people we traveled hundreds of miles with so many years ago. A lot of time has past but our memories are so fresh and clear.

Over 80 adults and 30+ children gathered together for this special day. We had a great bike ride in the morning. Some groups rode 25+ mile; others got a late start and knocked off 10-11 miles before lunch.

We had a real Bike Trip Lunch complete with Fluffernutter sandwiches. The room was covered with photos. Slide shows of old bike trips were projected on to the walls. Our spouses who never saw us during the bike trip years now could see the photographic proof of all the stories we tell about those trips.

Bob Snider led us singing the Bike Trip songs. It was amazing how the words popped back into our memory when we started to sing. Bob reflected that all those mornings and evenings during the trip we were singing and worshipping God. We were repeating God's Word and thinking about it all day long. God gave us strength and hope to do what we never thought we could do. It was real then and it is still real now as we go through the present challenges of our life.

We told lots of funny stories about the trips for over an hour. Every story and remembrance reminded us about the community and love we experienced on the bike trips.

We moved to Scudder Beach Park in Northport for dinner. Andy Crabtree and Becky Crabtree spent most of the day preparing and serving the food. It was delicious and we ate like we had ridden 80 miles earlier that day.
