YFC VISION
As a part of the body of Christ, our vision is to see every young person, in every people group, in every nation have the opportunity to make an informed decision to become a follower of Jesus Christ and be part of a local church.
Partnership With Individual Donors
Long Island YFC exists and grows with the commitment of individual donors giving financial support monthly, quarterly and annually.
YFC encourages every individual to support their local church first and to give YFC and other worthy organizations with additional giving. Complete financial information is available on request. Partnership With Churches Long Island YFC is supported by numerous local churches from a wide diversity of denominational backgrounds.
Partnership With Volunteers
Adult volunteers are actively involved in ministry events and in regular interaction with youth through Friday Night Live, Campus Life, Teen Parents and Student Led Ministries. Adult volunteers are also active in the YFC offi ce assisting with mailings and support activites.
National and International Origins
Youth for Christ was founded in 1944 by Dr. Torrey Johnson and a group of young leaders (including a young evangelist, Billy Graham) concerned about youth who were not active in the church.
The YFC movement spread quickly over 250 cities nationally and over 100 countries worldwide.
Long Island YFC- Local Funding and Control
Youth for Christ was started on Long Island in 1959 by Dave Swanson. Long Island YFC is a chartered affiliate of YFC/USA and registered as a not-for-profit charitable organization in New York State. LI YFC is locally governed by a board of directors and is locally funded.
